There's a story behind this commission:
Back in October at NYCC, a fan asked for a sketch of Colossus. I knocked it out for him, but he never came back to pick it up. I held on to it just in case, and sure enough a couple of weeks went by and he wound up emailing me asking if he could still get it, which I was happy to oblige. The problem was, I couldn't find it! Somehow in the shuffle of convention madness it got lost. I looked for it all over my apartment but couldn't find it. After a while of searching in vain, I apologized to the guy and said I would create a new sketch for him free of charge.
Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago, and I FIND the sketch hidden amongst the pages of a sketchpad I had stashed away. YES! But -- looking at it now, I didn't think it was very good! Con sketches tend to not be all that well thought out because there's a million things going on, you're talking to people, shaking hands, looking at portfolios, etc. You draw as well as you can but you're going to miss things, it's just the reality of drawing fast.
So -- I redrew it. This is the redraw. And since it's now been a couple months, I gave the fan both drawings.
